The book starts excellently, defining and explaining the basic idea of globalization intelligently and clearly in chapters 1 through 5. This book still had a lot for me, especially for getting a clear, overall perspective on the subject. The rest of the book could’ve dug deeper or raised some questions of importance in the particular subjects that the chapters address economics, political, cultural, ecological.

I don’t want to belive it’s due to the author’s lack of information, and if it is not, it is beased information and a strongly negative point at this.

Globalization a contested concept. The author puts faces and examples to each of the ideologies, which was very helpful. In this fourth edition Steger discusses some of the key features of recent years, such as the EU fiscal crisis, the rise of robot technology and new war technology with civilian usage such as drones, the Ebola epidemic in West Africa, and new identity discussions around gender fluidity and sex change in the media.

As such, its biggest strength is that it has a seemingly thorough section on recommended further reading, so hopefully I’ll be able to find something a bit better there!
